Sourcing agents occupy a specific position in the fashion supply chain. They know the manufacturers. They know the brands. And they know, faster than almost anyone, when a manufacturer is worth recommending — and when they’re not.
If you’re a sourcing agent evaluating European manufacturers for your clients, this guide is written for you. It covers what Isira offers, how we work, and what the partnership looks like in practice.
If you’re a brand trying to understand how sourcing agents think about manufacturer selection — this is useful reading too.
A sourcing agent’s reputation depends entirely on the quality of the recommendations they make. One bad referral — a manufacturer who misses a deadline, delivers inconsistent quality, or fails to communicate a problem until it’s too late — affects every client relationship they have.
This means sourcing agents evaluate manufacturers differently from brands. A brand evaluates based on their own project. An agent evaluates based on every project they might refer, now and in the future. The criteria are higher, the scrutiny is sharper, and the questions are more specific.
The things agents consistently care about:
Consistency. Can this manufacturer deliver the same quality standard across multiple orders, multiple clients, and multiple seasons? A single strong sample means very little if the production run doesn’t match it, or if the second order is different from the first.
Communication. Does the manufacturer communicate proactively, or do problems surface only after they’ve become serious? An agent managing multiple client relationships needs a manufacturer who tells them what’s happening — good news and bad — without having to chase for updates.
Honest capacity management. A manufacturer who accepts more orders than they can deliver on time is a liability. Agents value manufacturers who know their capacity limits and communicate them clearly, even if that means turning down orders.
Specialisation. Generalist manufacturers are harder to recommend confidently. Specialists — manufacturers with deep expertise in a specific garment type, fabric category, or construction complexity — are easier to place with the right client and more likely to deliver results that build the agent’s reputation.
Genuine small batch capability. Isira’s minimum order is 50 pieces per model, split across up to 2 colours and up to 8 sizes. This is a real minimum — not a theoretical one that becomes 200 pieces in practice. For agents working with emerging luxury brands, independent designers, or established brands testing new styles, this is a meaningful capability.
Specialisation in complex garments and delicate fabrics. Isira works with silk, organza, chiffon, technical synthetics, and complex constructions. This is not a general factory. If an agent’s client is building a luxury collection with ambition in silhouette or fabric, Isira is a relevant option. If the client needs basics in jersey or denim at volume, we’re the wrong fit — and we’ll say so.
In-house end-to-end capability. Patternmaking, grading, sampling, and CMT production all happen under one roof in Kaunas, Lithuania. There are no third-party suppliers between pattern development and finished garment. For agents, this means a single point of contact and a single point of accountability.
Fashion week production track record. Collections manufactured by Isira have been showcased at Paris Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, and London Fashion Week. This is a reference point agents can use with clients who are evaluating quality credentials.
EU location and compliance. Isira operates under EU labour law and environmental standards. For agents working with brands in the UK, US, or Australia where supply chain transparency is increasingly important to retailers and press, European manufacturing is a defensible position that doesn’t require caveats.
Isira works with sourcing agents on a straightforward basis. When an agent refers a client, we treat that introduction with the same care we’d apply to any long-term client relationship — because we understand that the agent’s reputation is part of what’s at stake.
In practice, this means:
We don’t view a referral as a transaction. We view it as the beginning of a relationship — with the brand, and with the agent who introduced us.
